Writing the “About” page is always the hardest part of blogging. I never know what to say. I’ve modeled this one after other “About” pages.
Most “About” pages start with a statement about the writer’s day job. Mine is teaching. I have a Master’s degree in English, and I teach entry-level writing and literature at a small religious college in the Midwest. Grading is rough, but I love helping my students discover that even books which are “not about Jesus” (as one student put it!) have in them much beauty and truth.
“About” pages also often include some details about the writer’s family, and interests. I’m single, so there’s not much to tell about my family. I don’t even have a cat! Still, I have a great set of parents and a sister, and since I believe in turning lemons into lemonade, you’ll find me blogging from time to time about singleness.
When I’m not teaching or writing, I’m running (middle distances) or reading. I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy, mysteries, and the novels of Marilynne Robinson; I also enjoy non-fiction, particularly essays and investigative journalism.
I also blog at Christ & University.
